With a growing population and a giant ecological footprint here in the US and across the globe, being environmentally friendly has increased in importance to government initiatives. Unfortunately, going green isn’t cheap and many American families and businesses can’t afford to make the necessary changes on their own. This is why the federal government is offering green grants and cash-back incentives for homes and businesses converting to renewable energy methods.

Renewable energy is power that can be recycled and does not rely entirely on fossil fuels, but rather on other energy methods such as wind mills, solar panels, etc. The green grant money comes out of the federal budget, but each individual state is responsible for administering it. The government is anxious to make these changes and as such is processing the grant applications very quickly and consumers are receiving their green grant money in record time. Below are some of the available green grants.

Green Grants for Home Owners
ENERGY Star appliances are the most energy efficient home appliances on the US market. If you are looking at replacing your furnace, air conditioner, dishwasher, clothes washer or dryer, you should definitely consider replacing it with an ENERGY Star appliance.

The exact amounts of your ENERGY Star green grant coverage will vary from 15% to 100% depending on the state in which you live. Most green grants, however, cover about 50%, helping to offset the costs of installing or investigating renewable energy systems. That means that individuals getting an initial assessment, or who are implementing changes in their current systems, can have at least some of their expenses subsidized by a green grant. Homeowners looking to convert their electric or hot water systems to solar powered ones are excellent candidates for these free green grants.

Green Grants for Business
There are all sorts of financial incentives for businesses, large and small, to hop on board the green train. Most businesses have an energy output equivalent to 50 houses or more and this is not going to be sustainable in the near future. There are large green grants to help businesses cover the costs of going green and drastically reducing their energy consumption.

The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is just one such business grant program. Funded by the federal government, REAP gives grants to farms and small businesses to invest in green energy such as biomass (the conversion of organic waste or produce into energy), solar, wind, water and geothermal technologies.

Apply For Your Green Grant Today
Every day that goes by and you sit and do nothing means more damage to our planet. By reducing your own home or business’s energy consumption you can help slow the effects of global warming and keep the hole in the ozone layer from expanding. Do your part in reducing your energy consumption and your children, grandchildren and great children will thank you for it. Remember: reducing your energy consumption also translates into lowered energy bills and increased savings in the long term!

Do you need free money to help pay your bills? Sick of avoiding collection calls and not having the money to buy the things you want and need? Low-income government grants are just for people like you.

Do you need free money to help pay your bills? Sick of avoiding collection calls and not having the money to buy the things you want and need? Low-income government grants are just for people like you. You can be awarded thousands of dollars to help pay the costs of housing, personal expenses, and childcare. But this money isn’t simply awarded to you; you must apply. Below are more details about the types of low-income government grants available and the application process to get them.

Housing Grants

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is dedicated to providing adequate low-income housing to Americans and landed residents in financial need. If you are paying more than 35% of your salary to cover your housing that is too much, and you will likely qualify for one of the various housing grants to help reduce your expenses. Grants include money to cover rent, mortgage payments, public housing, and shelter expenses.

Personal Grants

If you are making your rent and mortgage payments but don’t have enough left over to pay your bills and other daily living expenses such as food and transportation then this is the type of low-income grant that you need. The money awarded can help you pay down debts and regain control of your finances.
Even if you have a great job and a decent income, but have made some bad investments and have wound up in debt, you could qualify for these grants. The money is granted to help you pay off those unsecured debts so that you aren’t forced to sacrifice your standard of living.

Childcare Grants

Childcare services in America aren’t cheap, and if you are in a low-paying job, the amount of money you are left with after paying for childcare doesn’t really warrant going into work. The government wants to help single parents and low-income families to be able to get out there and work while still having safe responsible care for their children. If you can’t afford the monthly cost of daycare you can apply for a childcare grant which will cover child care in a licensed child care center; in a licensed family child care home; by a relative of the child in the relative's home; or by an approved person in the child's home.

How to Apply

The easiest way to find and apply for government low-income grants is by using a free grant kit. These handy kits have a current and complete list of available grants and easy to manoeuvre and find the ones that you are eligible for. The kit will even help you through the application process if you are unsure of what to do. Apply for your free kit today and you will be on your way to getting a free government grant in no time at all.

Best Sites for Government Grants

There are over 49,000 types of available government grants as of March 23, 2010. Many of these grants are distributed annually; however, thousands go unclaimed. Nevertheless, since new bills were passed on March 21, this number will increase to include more education grants and to make room for the projected $61 billion dollars the US government expects to save over the coming decade.

The only problem is that with a sudden influx of state and federal grants, American citizen will no doubt be scrambling to apply for any and every government grant they can get their hands on. Many false websites have already begun to spring up, promising American citizens thousands of dollars in free government grant money, but without any evidence or information to back up these claims.

We’ve decided to review the 2 most popular and credible government grant website, in order to show grant applicants the things to look for, the research to do, and the things of which you should beware.

GOVERNMENTGRANT.COM

We recommend this site for a variety of reasons.

Users can order a grant kit right from the website, which will help them to see for which grants they can apply, how to do so, and how to assess their personal criteria to ensure they are qualified to apply for the grant they need.

Probably the best part of www.governmentgrant.com is it is a database of government grant information. What impressed us the most was the wealth of information available on the site, for US applicants to familiarize their selves with and grasp requirements of government grants. A sidebar with various types of grants provides visitors with much of the information they need to assess properly what kind of grant is right for them.

Readily available on every page is a link to direct visitors to the grant kit order-form. For a small shipping and handling fee, visitors of www.governmentgrant.com can order a grant kit that will guide them through the government grant application process.

Compared to other, newer government grant sites, we rate www.governmentgrant.com a 5/5.

GOVERNMENTGRANTS.COM

This particular Government Grants sites is one of the slickest we’ve seen.

The design is simple, but under each header is a plethora of relevant articles. Visitors can learn the ins and outs of government grants, available funding, the application process, and more.

The research is credible, the facts accurate and the statistics encouraging. www.governmentgrants.com adds an elegance to applying for government grants, taking it from a taboo subject to a national entitlement.

With anywhere from 8 to 25 articles per category, visitors can decide exactly what they need and this site will show them how to get it.

Appearing on every page are banners that will direct visitors to an easy online form to order a government grant kit, to help complete the process of application.

We rate this site 5/5.

Make sure to visit these sites and to do heavy research before deciding for which government grant you want to apply. Do not trust every website promising you free money in the form of government grants, or you are likely to be duped.

The Canadian government has set aside more than $20 billion dollars towards funding programs through grants and loans to Canadian citizens. But how can you, the average person, access these loans?

We’ve set out to see which websites provide the best services to help you identify for which loans you can apply, and how to go about doing so. During our research, we discovered a multitude of “fake” government grant websites, designed to dupe their visitors into thinking they are credible sources for government information. Beware of such sites.

One such site is grants-loans.org, which appears to have a wealth of information in the site, but the information is incredible, out-dated and targeted to profit from the visitors, rather than act as a database for information. It is not a helpful tool; rather, a sales initiative.

Fortunately, we found the best site, and Canada’s number one site for government grant information and applications.

www.Grants.ca

This website is a collection of any and all government grant-related information any Canadian could ever need.

What impressed us the most about this website was the plethora of informative articles regarding all aspects of Canadian government grants: women’s grants, business grants, housing grants, education grants, and more. The website also includes up-to-date relevant news information concerning Canadian government grants.

You will notice the ease-to-read homepage is neatly sectioned off, so you can easily find what you are looking for. Want to know more about housing grants? Just click on an article under the Housing header. Each of the sections has myriad articles to answer any question you might have.
The design of the website is one of the nicest we’ve seen. We have to hand it to the folks at www.grants.ca – they’ve created a gorgeous interface that is so easy to navigate, we went thru the entire homepage just for the hell of it.

An amazing thing about grants.ca is that the search function will show you results that are tailored to your specific province. This eliminates the need to weed through articles that aren’t relevant to your particular need.

As well, if you want to see specific examples of government grant awardees, the website provides you with names and grant award totals for 2009 in Canada. This adds an air of legitimacy to this site.

Grants.ca is undoubtedly the best resource for government grant information, and you can even apply for a grant kit right on the site.
